about

"Despite being recorded on a tobacco farm, this album really feels born of the garage. It brims with energy and while it clearly has a sense of craft, Nothing is Enough! retains a nice level of crackling roughness. Apparently, Lubec describes their music as "sculpt-rock," and I like that image. In a song like "Your Magic Wand," the guitars punctuate the chorus like a buzz saw at full bore, from which the sawdust of melody flies."

- Those Who Dig

"Listening to Nothing is Enough! can be likened to what Dorothy experienced when she was inside of the tempest that transported her to Oz."

-DOA Blog

"This might be a weird comparison for a group like Lubec, but when I listen to their new EP Nothing is Enough, I’m reminded of the Phil Spector ‘Wall of Sound’. It’s not a wall of noise, it’s a wall of sonic craziness that actually makes sense. Just like what Spector did with his production and recordings."

- Dyson Sound

"Sculpt Rock, the genre listed for Lubec‘s Nothing is Enough! EP, must be a reference to the deeply layered sound that the band has developed. It starts like a stone: minerals sink to the bottom of the sea and are compacted together under the pressure of the ocean until they are ejected, scalded and scarred, from a volcano, eons later. Lubec sculpt this imperfect rock into an amorphous, yet densely textured monolith"

- SSG Music

"The debut EP from this quartet is one of the more distinctive shoegaze retreads heard lately. At times, it could be a transmission from the late '80s; the giveaway is the gleefully amateurish sound quality, with enough blown-out hiss for three Loveless sequels."
